The Ozernovskoyedeposit(ore field) was discovered duringthe geological surveyat scale 1:200 000 carrying outin the years 1971-1973 by thefield party of the All-UnionAeroGeologicalTrust (Zabotkin, 1974);and that time the linear bodies of secondary quartzites bearing the gold-silver mineralization (gold from 0.1 to 30 g/t) were prospected and mapped.
Since 1979 till 1994 the object was studied by certain Kamchatka geological organizations. But in the early 1990-ties of the last century due to the collapse of the Geological Surveyandbudgetary financing cessation, the Ozernovskoyeore field has remainedinsufficiently studied.
In January 1993, according to the State Plan of Reserves Increment, the reserves estimation on Category С2was prepared within the ore bodies №№ 2 and 5 of the BAM zone andore bodyII of a zone 76 what amounted to 979.7 thou. tons of ore, 16024 kg of goldand 7.2 tons of silver atmean grades of16.6 g/t and 7.0 g/t correspondingly. (Minutes of the Scie&Tech Board Meeting of «Kamchatgeolkom» № 1 dated 05.01.93).
In February, 1993 those reserves were assayed in the CKZ “Roskomnedra” and were left unchanged (Minutes № 109 date 23.02.93).
The general predictive estimate of the Ozernovskoye ore filed for that period was15122.2 thou. tons of ore, 239050 kg of gold and 253 tons of silver at grades of15.8 g/t and 16.7 g/t.
Estimation of the reserves and possible resources was carried out in accordance with the evaluation conditionscalculated by DVIMS in1989,following the results of prospecting and estimation works, and the approved Minutes of PGO “Kamchatgeologia”№ 104 dated 28.08.91:
- Minimal commercial gold grade – 7.7 g/t;
- Cutoff grade – 2 g/t;
- Thickness of the mining level – 1 m;
Delineation content along the strike was not calculated; it was accepted as – 3 g/t.
In 1997 during the field works, some geological and prospecting works (mainly at BAM zone) were carried out bythe CJSC «Palamos» -the license holder to use subsurface mineral resources. The drilling works have confirmed the data of the early researchers.CJSC «Palamos», who were unable to cope withorganizational problems and who failed to fully complete his own Programme of works,in reality conducted someauditing workswhich were required for them, but did not solve the main task of the fullgeological and economicalevaluation of the Ozernovskoye ore filed.
However, a Canadian mining companyPlacer Dome(investor of CJSC «Palamos»)recognized theobjectas not large enoughandstoppedtheir further activity.
In the year 2003 within the scope of the report on the theme:“Quantitative, geologicaland economical estimation of the RF territory resource potential inview of prioritization the licensed subsurface resources use on diamonds, precious and base metals as ofthe date 01.01.2003” the Administration of Natural Resources inKamchatka Oblast and KoryakAutonomous Region carried out a newreassessment ofthe Ozernovskoeorefield resources. The gold andsilver reserves on C2 categoryvalidated by theState Reserves Committee “Roskomnedra” were not revised. At the moment, the totalofficial estimateof the ore fieldis:ore– 5,253.5 thou. tons, gold – 80257kg (gold grade 15.3 g/t), silver – 79.9 tons (silver grade 15.2 g/t).
Just thatvolumeof reserves and gold and silver reserves of the Ozernovskoye ore filedis put out to the tender.
Having reviewedand analyzedavailablematerials on the Ozernovskoyeorefieldand having determinedquality and completenessofthe object study,the CJSC “Siberian Mining and MetallurgicalAlliance (CJSC “SIGMA”)will provide with the present projecta further appraisal of the Ozernovskoyeorefield to solve somepriority tasksas early as on thefirststage:
- preparing the first phase of gold and silver reserves for the state expertise;
- mineral resources re-estimation within all limits of the Ozernovskoyeorefieldto prepare next planes for prospecting, and advanced development of the mining company;
- receiving enough information for the package materials preparation to start designing of the mining company.
